Light Cone & Causal Structure
Also known as: Null Cone · Causal Cone
Every event sits at the tip of a double cone of light. Only what lies inside the past cone can have caused it, and only what lies inside the future cone can it affect. Everything else is 'elsewhere' — forever causally disconnected.

Equivalent forms
Causality itself becomes geometry: the invariant sign of ds^2 decides, in a frame-independent way, whether one event can influence another.
Dimensional analysis
The light cone is the geometric heart of Minkowski's spacetime picture; it turned Einstein's postulate about light's speed into a fixed causal skeleton for the universe.

Limiting cases
What if…
You could send signals into your own past, allowing paradoxes — which is exactly why relativity forbids it.
The cone would flatten onto the plane : Newtonian absolute simultaneity, with instantaneous cause and effect.
